®Thomas Gravanis for This is Athens
The highly anticipated movie Crimes of the Future directed by David Cronenberg has successfully finished shooting in Greece.
The sci-fi thriller co-produced by Serendipity Point Films and Argonauts Productions had started filming in the center of Athens from August and finished early September as expected. The final location used for shooting was Elfesina, a suburban town and municipality in West Attica Regional unit in Greece.
According to Panos Papahatzis, director of the production company Argonauts, Athens was a mutual choice of David Cronenberg and his producer Robert Landos. On the one hand, they liked the locations that fit the aesthetics of David’s narrative, and on the other hand they were attracted to the generous economic incentives program offered. Mr. Papahatzis had successfully collaborated with Landos in 2007, which also contributed to the Canadians’ final decision to choose Greece.
