The Athens Film Office (AFO) was created in March 2020 through Develop Athens. Its main goal is to attract international productions and transform the City of Athens into a “film-friendly city.” From city to coast, from classical to contemporary, Athens has outstanding options for every production. The AFO connects creatives with local service providers that handle everything from transport to translation, while supporting events that bring creative people together to continue the city’s long creative tradition.

Our mission at Develop Athens is to promote Athens as an attractive year-round destination for residents, visitors, professionals and investors. With this in mind, Develop Athens, plans and implements an integrated development and promotion strategy to enhance the city’s image.

Stathis Kalogeropoulos
Stathis Kalogeropoulos is the Athens Film Officer. He studied Mathematics in Greece, gained working experience in various industries from Informatics to Facility management in Greece and abroad. The last 7 years he has been actively involved in setting up Film Offices in the Region of Central Greece and the city of Athens where he has handled over 100 productions. He is a member of AFCI and EUFCN
Christina Mitropoulou
Christina Mitropoulou is an award winning writer and producer. She is the head of development for the Athens Film Office, in charge of production and development strategy. Prior to that, Christina served as Head of Development for Alpha TV spearheading original scripted content. Christina is the creator and executive producer of two limited series. She has penned 60 hours of television on shows which have aired in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia. Christina is a Yale University and University of Oxford alumna. She is a member of the International Academy of Television Art & Sciences (International Emmy Awards).
Eftychia Rantou
Eftychia Rantou studied CMC at Panteion University and completed her studies with a MSc in Sustainable Tourism Development at University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne. She has worked in various positions related to arts and culture. She currently works as a Project Manager at the AFO.
