The Benaki Museum / The Ghika Gallery is housed in a typical Athenian modernist building. The two top floors feature the home and studio of painter Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika (1906-1994); the remaining four floors offer a panorama of Greek culture between World War I and the 60s.
The Benaki Museum, founded by Antonis Benakis in 1930, is among the most extensive and innovative museum organizations in Europe. Diverse cultures from all historical periods meet contemporary art movements across a network of venues all over Athens – and beyond.
