“Crimes of the Future,” which stars Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux, and Kristen Stewart, was announced as part of the Competition lineup at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, running May 17-28. After that, the movie is set to premiere wide in theaters in June. A specific date is yet to be announced by Neon.

Director of the production company Argonauts, Panos Papahatzis which co-produced the film along with Serendipity Point, commented on the news by saying: “It is a great honor for me and the Argonauts to participate in the official competition of the Cannes Film Festival, let alone with the film of such a great director as David Cronenberg. Crimes of the Future was the occasion for another collaboration with Robert Lantos, one of the world’s most important producers. I would like to thank the Greek Film Center, ERT, EKOME and the Athens Film Office, whose support has been very important in order to be able to carry out the co-production between Greece and Canada. I hope that this step will trigger the flourishing of more co-productions between Greece and other countries. It is an important year for Greece – at the moment the Cannes Film Festival is hosting three Greek participants. I feel happy and proud that the culture of our country is once again surpassing the Greek borders and that the Argonauts are committed to doing our best.”
