A few words about the EVIA FILM PROJECT:
The EVIA FILM PROJECT is part of the special program of the Ministry of Culture and Sports for the reconstruction and restoration of Evia after the devastating fires of the summer. The EVIA FILM PROJECT, which is realized with the support of the Region of Central Greece, aspires to transform Evia into an international center of Green Cinema, offering the opportunity to creators and producers from all over the world to present their film projects in it for the first time. The EVIA FILM PROJECT opens a third cycle of developmental activities of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival after the internationally successful Markets of the Film Festival (November) and the Documentary Festival (March). New jobs will be created, while Evia will become a pole of attraction for the film industry, attracting film professionals and distinguished guests from all over the world, who will deliver workshops, seminars and educational programs.
With an eye on the establishment of the EVIA FILM PROJECT as an institution for the island of Evia, the Thessaloniki Festival joins forces with the Halkida Documentary Festival, the Department of Digital Arts and Film of Psachna, the local government, as well as all the productive bodies based in Evia.
The first cash prizes, amounting to 10,000 euros, of the Agora Green Awards are announced by the EVIA FILM PROJECT, which will take place in Evia on 15-19 June 2022, inaugurating the “green” action of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. More specifically, the Works in Progress Award is accompanied by a cash prize of 6,000 euros and the Co-Production Award is accompanied by a cash prize of 4,000 euros. The rest of the Agora Green Awards will be announced soon. Creators can submit their projects until Friday, April 29, 2022, as deposits are extended for another two weeks.
In the EVIA FILM PROJECT can participate fiction films, documentary, new media and feature animation from all over the world. In addition, the selected projects must have ecological sustainability as their central or broader theme, as well as be in the process of editing or post-production.
