Declaration des Cineastes – An event organised by Athens Film Office

The Athens Film Office hosted on Friday 15.12.2023, The Declaration of Filmmakers in collaboration with the Greek Film Centre and EKOME at Serafio of the Municipality of Athens.

The event is an important initiative of filmmakers in Europe and worldwide to join their voices and share their experiences, problems, and opinions about the position of filmmakers, on matters such as intellectual property rights, streaming re-runs, and the impact of AI on the film industry.

The panel talk was attended and addressed by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Greece – Ch. Dimas, the GFC President Markos Cholevas, the President and CEO of EKOME Leonidas Christopoulos, Elena Christodoulidou, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Lefteris Eleftheriou, Film Commissioner of Cyprus, Elli Roussou, copyright lawyer, and Athina Xenidou, President of the Directors Guild of Cyprus.

Speakers among others were Marin Franschin (France) – Radu Mihaileanu (France) – Francesco Ranieri Martinotti (Italy), and Gabriel Tzafkas, a member of the Directors Guild of Denmark. The talk was moderated by Athena Xenidou. Also participating via video call were Howard A. Rodman – Former WGA President, the Greek director Costa Gavras, Bill Anderson, director and President of the Federation of European Directors (FERA) and Pauline Duran-Viagh, CEO of FERA.
